File complaints vs rogue cops, Koreans told
CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga , Philippines – South Korean residents and tourists who suffered abuses or harassment from police officers should immediately file complaints, a police official has said.
Chief Superintendent Aaron Aquino, Central Luzon police director, made the call during a consultative meeting with members of the Korean community at the multipurpose hall of the regional police headquarters here on Tuesday.
The meeting, which was conducted in the wake of the kidnap-slay of businessman Jee Ick-joo and “tokhang for ransom” extortion scheme of rogue cops, was attended by Kim Dae-hee, consul of the Korean embassy, and leaders of Korean communities in Central Luzon.
“I don’t tolerate rogue policemen…particularly those harassing or robbing Korean nationals,” Aquino said during the meeting.
He said the regional police office is creating a task force to identify scalawags in the police.
“I will dismiss all policemen involved in illegal activities in the region,” Aquino said. “We need to cleanse our ranks,” he said.
Meanwhile, Angeles City Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan apologized for crimes committed against Koreans in his city.
“I will see to it that it will never happen again,” Pamintuan said.
