Man kills own brother who scolded him over drug use

CEBU, Philippines - A 31-year-old man died after he was hacked by his own brother Friday evening when he allegedly reprimanded the latter for being a drug dependent.

Police Officer 1 Renaldo Contado, investigator of Balamban Police Station said the victim, Willboy Caburnay, of Sitio Pili, Barangay Prenza, Balamban was having a drinking spree with his brother, Jonathan, 29, at around 9:45 in the evening.

While they were drinking, the victim allegedly insulted his younger brother and reprimanded him for being a drug dependent.

This reportedly angered Jonathan which resulted in a heated argument. Jonathan then took a bolo and hacked the victim hitting his head and neck.

Jonathan was immediately arrested and is now detained at the Balamban Police Station pending the filing of murder charges against him before the Prosecutor's Office.

Police Officer 1 Renaldo Contado of the Balamban Police Station said Jonathan was under their drug watch list and surrendered after he was included in the police station’s Oplan Tokhang. (FREEMAN)
