ILOILO CITY, Philippines – Two persons died in a collision involving a tricycle and a car in Oton, Iloilo on Friday.

Tricycle driver Maximo Bucaling, 61, died at the scene.

His passenger, Justin Zulla, 22, died yesterday morning while being treated at the Western Visayas Medical Center in this city.

Reports said Bucaling and Zulla were traveling in Barangay Pakiad when a Honda Civic driven by Demetrio Olivar hit the tricycle.

Investigators believed the car could have dragged the tricycle some 15 meters away.

Police arrested Olivar, who injured his knees.

A day before, another driver died while three others were injured when their pickup hit a tree in Barotac Viejo, Iloilo.

Rodel Villa died at the scene while his wife Ma. Rhea and passengers Rodrigo Bardosa and Glenn Descautan, all of Ajuy town, were taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police said the truck could have developed engine trouble, causing Villa to lose control of the wheel.
