Gilas umani nang respeto
MANILA, Philippines – Umani nang respeto ang Gilas Pilipinas matapos makipagsabayan sa world No. 5 France sa kanilang unang laro noong Martes sa FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament sa Mall of Asia Arena sa Pasay City.
Bagamat hindi nakuha ang panalo, kaliwa’t kanan ang papuring tinanggap ng Pinoy squad mula sa NBA players na naglalaro sa torneo kabilang na sina Tony Parker ng San Antonio Spurs at Corey Joseph ng Toronto Raptors.
Tinukoy ni Parker sina Terrence Romeo at Jayson Castro na tunay na nagpamalas ng husay at nagpahirap sa France bago maitarak ang 94-83 panalo sa Gilas Pilipinas.
“Filipino guards played with high energy and you have to give a lot of credit to them. They played a great game. They made it tough for us. They were very aggressive going to the basket and creating shots for their teammates. They played pretty well,” wika ni Parker.
Nakalikom si Romeo ng 19 puntos tampok ang tatlong three-pointers habang umiskor naman si Castro ng 14 puntos at tatlong assists.
Naniniwala si Joseph na malaki ang tsansa ng Pinoy cagers na makapaglaro sa NBA dahil sa kanilang abilidad at liksi bukod pa rito ang determinasyon at pusong nakakabit sa kanilang paglalaro.
“They can play in the NBA. They are good. The guards played well and their three-point shooting was also great,” wika ni Joseph matapos masaksihan ang inilabas na intensidad ng Gilas kontra France.
