Sandiganbayan sets auction of forfeited planes from Marcos cronies

MANILA, Philippines – Anti-graft court Sandiganbayan has set the auction for two Cessna aircraft forfeited from alleged cronies of the late former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.

Earlier this year, the Sandiganbayan Second Division ordered the Marcos and Lim families to return assets registered to Alfonso Lim Sr. to the government.

Lim, who died in 2002, reportedly acquired properties in Tagaytay City, Batangas and Rizal through timber concessions and management contracts.

The court also ordered the return of two sequestered aircraft, RP-C208 Cessna Centurion II and RP-C333 Cessna Golden Eagle, which are registered under the name of Taggat Industries.

The two aircraft will be sold at a public auction to the highest bidder on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the hangar of Northern Resort Inc. at the Manila Domestic Airport in Pasay City, according to the resolution issued by the court.

The Cessna planes have been grounded at the Manila Domestic Airport since 1994.
