Cebu City teachers thankful for approval of cash assistance

CEBU, Philippines - Public school teachers in Cebu City welcomed the  City Council’s approval of their P10,000 cash bonus.

Cebu City Schools Division Superintendent Bianito A. Dagatan said they are thankful to the city government for the assistance.

The City Council earlier approved an ordinance granting an annual P10,000 cash bonus to all primary and secondary teachers in the city’s public schools.

The ordinance, which was endorsed by Councilor Lea Ouano Japson last April 14, aims to promote and improve the social and economic status of the public school teachers in the city.

It covers all city public school teachers, including those guidance counselors, librarians, vocational instructors, as well as those in supervisory and administrative functions.

But only those who rendered at least one year of service are qualified to receive the financial aid.

The distribution of the cash assistance will be held every December.

The cash assistance, amounting to P50,150,000, will be sourced from the city’s annual budget. (FREEMAN)
