PCG: 5,687 passengers stranded in ports

MANILA, Philippines – As Typhoon Nona weakened, the number of stranded passengers in various ports reported by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) significantly went down to 5,687.

The figure was reported at 8 a.m. and was the lowest over the past three days as the recorded number of passengers stranded ranged from over 6,000 to nearly 8,000.

The number of vehicles stranded also lowered. Currently there are 50 vessels, 64 motor bancas and 447 rolling cargoes stranded.

Although the number of sea vehicles stranded decreased, PCG still advised its units to follow strict implementation of the Headquarters Philippine Coast Guard Memorandum Circular 02-13 otherwise known as the Guidelines on Movement of Vessels during Heavy Weather.
