Firm to introduce Acai-based skincare products in 2016
CEBU, Philippines – Organique Inc. will enter into the lucrative skin care market next year, banking on Acai Berry’s well known anti-aging and whitening benefits.
Catherine Salimbangon, vice president for marketing, said that the company will create another brand of its Acai-based skin care line starting off with “Naked” soap and moisturizer products.
Although the company has already started to distribute its Naked skin care line to some derma clinics, Salimbangon said this line will be formally introduced to the Philippine market by next year.
The company’s plan to set up a manufacturing plant in the Philippines could also aid the production of its skin care line, in addition to the increasing demand for its core product, the Acai Berry juice in the country and the rest of the ASEAN region.
The company said it will spend at least P100 million to set up two manufacturing plants in the Philippines and Vietnam, and a regional headquarter in Singapore to strengthen its positioning in the ASEAN market.
According to Salimbangon, the company has to maximize the good effects of Acai Berry, not only as health drink but also for skin care.
The powdered Acai Berry extract will be mixed in the soap and moisturizing products, as well as other skin care line that will be introduced in the market soon.
Now that there is a market for organically processed and sourced skin care products, it is high time for Organique to enter into the health-conscious market segment.
Organique has partnered with a US-based tolling company to process the Amazon-grown Acai Berries into an FDA ( Food and Drugs Administration) approved health drink. It is also the first Filipino-owned company to have gotten a certification from the United States Department of Agriculture for its organic health drink.
The market’s increasing preference to consume and use health-friendly products paved the way for Organique’s success specifically in the health drink category, registering over 200 percent growth in the last six years.
“The market, especially in ASEAN, is very big. We are encouraged to set up manufacturing plants here in the Philippines and Vietnam to help expand our production volume and to cut importation cost,” said Salimbangon.
Catherine and her husband started the distribution of organic Acai Berry health drink in 2009 in Cebu. The company has set up an office in Manila as its market now include the entire ASEAN, as well as other parts of the world like Middle East, United States, and Japan among others. (FREEMAN)
