ANS boxers shine in CCO

CEBU, Philippines – Abellana National School pugs harvested medals in the boxing event of the 2015 Cebu City Olympics at the Cebu City Sports Center yesterday.

ANS boxers collected three golds and one silver medal. Rodrigue Mar Umpad won via decision in the mosquito weight division against a Mabolo boxer for the gold.

Umpad’s teammates in Laurence Berondo and Eduardo Jimenez Jr. also got an easy win over their respective foes in the finals.

Berondo defeated Levy Ramos of Don Emilio Osmeña Sr. Intergrated School in the pinweight division, while Jimenez was unopposed in the mosquito class.

Nicole James Ramos delivered a gold medal to Don Emilio Osmeña Sr. Intergrated School in the 44-46 kgs. class with a technical knockout victory against Don Sergio Osmeña MNHS' Philip John Lepogpog.

Two boxers from Mabolo and Tanudra were also unopposed in the 42 kgs. class and will join Team Cebu City that will compete in next year's Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) Regional Meet in Naga, Cebu. (FREEMAN)
