A Night of Glitz and Glamour

A high-end Italian and internationally acclaimed jewelry brand was officially launched in the city last September 22. Roberto Coin had an exclusive cocktail event at the Rustan’s Silver Vault in Ayala Center Cebu.

The night was made even more glamorous with the presence of the brand’s eponymous creator, Mr. Roberto Coin himself, who flew in from Italy to personally introduce the brand to the Cebuanos.  Also gracing the launch were some of Rustan’s executives including member of the Board, Maritess Tantoco-Enriquez, and Marketing Communications Manager Dina Arroyo-Tantoco.

The event featured Roberto Coin’s newest collection, the Tanaquilla Collection, inspired by the legendary Estruscan queen Tanaquil of 600 BC, who is a historical icon of emancipation and freedom. She is believed to be the first woman in history to wear jewelry as a fashion statement. The pieces in the Tanquilla collection include rings, cuffs, earrings, and choker necklaces set in yellow gold with danburite and brown diamonds.

Roberto Coin was founded in 1977 in Vicenza, Italy, and was officially launched as a brand in 1996. The brand easily gained recognition and in just four years, in the year 2000, it placed 7th among the most renowned jewelry brands in the United States. Two years later, it ranked third in the international panorama and first among Italian jewelers.

A distinct feature among Roberto Coin pieces: a small ruby is cast inside every jewel that makes direct contact with the skin of who wears it. Mr. Coin dedicates this magical signature to every woman wearing and loving his jewelry, as a secret message of good wishes. This exclusive signature is inspired by ancient Egyptian legends, which regarded rubies to have magical powers that grant good luck, happiness, prosperity and good health to the woman whose skin it touches.

His collections can be found today in more than 1,000 boutiques, in over 60 countries worldwide. In the Philippines, Roberto Coin is sold exclusively at Rustan’s Silver Vault in Makati, Shangri-La Mall, Newport Mall and now in Cebu.
