Another village chief shot dead

NORTH COTABATO, Philippines – Another village chief, this time in Datu Montawal town in Maguindanao, was killed by two motorcycle-riding men last Wednesday, police said.

Kudim Kusim, 53, chairman of Barangay Balatong Kayuh in Datu Montawal town, was waiting for a ride in front of a department store in Kabacan town when his attackers pulled over and shot him with a .45-caliber pistol, said Senior Inspector Jardine Maribojo, Kabacan police chief.

Maribojo said probers would question Kusim’s relatives on the possible motives for his killing.
