CCSC Summer Grassroots Program 2026 a big success

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Sports Commission (CCSC) Summer Grassroots Program 2026, which provided a free, community-based training for close to 3,000 kids aged seven to 14 years old in a total of 26 sports disciplines, was a huge success.
CCSC Chairman Dr. Rhoel Dejano said they deployed coaches and trainers for the two-month clinic with the primary goal of giving the children a productive and meaningful way to spend their summer, encouraging them to stay active, healthy, and away from a sedentary lifestyle centered on gadgets.
“At the same time, the program also served as an avenue to discover and develop new and promising athletic talents from our communities,” Dejano said. “Overall, I can proudly say that the program was a success.”
Dejano extended his heartfelt gratitude to mayor Nestor Archival, vice mayor Tomas Osmeña, and the members of the city council for their unwavering support to their meaningful initiative.
“My sincere thanks as well to the commissioners and staff of the Cebu City Sports Commission for their hard work and dedication in making this program possible,” Dejano said.
The 2025 Sportsman of the Year awardee also made special mention of the city’s Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation for the invaluable assistance they provided in the implementation of the worthwhile project.
“To our coaches and trainers, thank you for generously sharing your time, passion, and expertise with our young participants. Your guidance has inspired and motivated the next generation of athletes,” said Dejano.
“To the parents, thank you for your trust, encouragement, and support in allowing your children to take part in this meaningful program,” Dejano continued.
“And most importantly, to all the children who joined , thank you for your enthusiasm, discipline, and energy. You are the true heart of this program, and we hope this experience has inspired you to continue pursuing sports, teamwork, and a healthy lifestyle.”
“Thank you very much, and congratulations to everyone who helped make the Summer Grassroots Program a success,” Dejano ended. — EBV
