Cebu Pickleball Open Tournament launched

CEBU, Philippines — Everything is already in place for the Cebu Pickleball Open Tournament 2026:The Blazing Torch and True Edge Cup set for June 27 at the Net and Paddle Pickleball Area in Barangay Sawang Calero, Cebu City.

Hosted by Antorcha De La Libertad Lodge No. 2 and Espada De Rectitud Lodge No. 3 of The Sovereign Grand Lodge of Visayas and Mindanao-Gran Logia Soberana del Archipielago Filipino (TSGLVM-GLSdAF), the event was formally launched by the organizers in a press conference on Wednesday, May 13, at Sunburst-8 Banawa Centrale.

“The primary purpose of the tournament is threefold :first, to promote camaraderie and brotherhood through sportsmanship; second, to support charitable and humanitarian causes through fundraising; and third, to help promote and develop pickleball as a growing sport in Cebu and neighboring communities,” said lead organizer Allan Borres Delantar.

Also in attendance were Hermanos Cesar Carlos Albano, Joseph Versaga, Amado Baclayon Jr., Gerald Cañete, Atty. Rengie Galo and Anselmo Belangel Jr. and Famela Mantuhac-Sajuela and Eva Marie Neo of Bola Pickleball PH.

“TSGLVM–GLSdAF believes that sports can unite people regardless of background, profession, or affiliation. Pickleball is rapidly growing and embodies discipline, precision, teamwork, and fellowship — values that align with our organizational principles. Through this event, we aim to combine athletic excellence with community service and charitable outreach,” Delantar added.

Open to qualified players and pickleball enthusiasts regardless of organizational affiliation, the one-day tilt features the men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles.

The champions in each category will take home P10,000 while the second placers will pocket P7,000.

Beyond sports, Delantar said their upcoming undertaking is for a worthy cause.

“The proceeds shall be dedicated to a charitable organization or humanitarian initiative that will be selected by the organizers and approved by TSGLVM–GLSdAF. Our intention is to ensure that the event benefits not only the participants but also communities and individuals who may need assistance,” said Delantar.
