All set for Checkmate Cebu 2026 this weekend
It’s all systems go for the Checkmate Cebu 2026 this Saturday, May 16, at the 3rd floor of Robinsons Galleria Cebu.
Organized by the Cebu School of Chess in partnership with the Singapore School of Cebu, the inter-school and open chess tournament is a welcome opportunity to celebrate this beautiful board game among schools and the youth in the province, providing an enriching experience for all participants.
Aside from the trophies and medals, over P80,000 in cash prize will be given away to the winners.
The champion in the juniors division (20 Under) will take home P12,000 while the second and third placers will pocket P8,000 and P6,000, respectively.
The Top 3 in the unrated category (16 Under) will receive P5,000, P4,000, and P3,000.
Those in the Top 10 will have corresponding prizes as well as best players in their respective categories and the top performing school.
Entry fee is P500 but onsite/walk-in registrants will be assessed with P600.
