Batch 2026, 2012 pull off bounce-back wins in SHAABAA

CEBU, Philippines — Rufrance LPG Batch 2026 rebounded from its opening day loss in style, stunning the defending champions Core+ Batch 2018, 68-63, in Division C of the Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (SHAABAA) Season 29 at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles Arena in Barangay Canduman, Mandaue City.

Benj Anthony Chua bagged 16 points on top of seven rebounds and two assists while Iven Hoffer Cardinas dished a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds with two assists and four blocks to help the youngest graduates atone from their stinging 65-83 defeat at the hands of 730 Autoworx Batch 2024 last May 3.

Xisco Cuyos was the other double-digit scorer for Batch 2026 with 10 points, three rebounds, and a steal.

Joshua Vincent Mah finished with 19 points, five rebounds and as many assists while Benedict Andre Chua cashed in 18 markers, eight rebounds, three assists and six steals but to no avail as Batch 2018 suffered its first loss.

In the other Division C matchup, Ian Landao produced a solid double-double show of 20 points and 14 rebounds with one assist, one steal and two blocks as CHEK Technologies Batch 2025 outlasted Batch 2024, 85-77, to take the early lead with a 2-0 slate.

Landao’s efforts were complemented by Renzo Zanoria and Ellieken Lim, who combined for 23 points.

RJ Dacalos delivered a monster 20-point, 25-rebound double-double performance with three assists, two blocks, and two steals while Nikolas Yu added 20 points and nine rebounds but their impressive showing went to the dustbin as Batch 2024 dropped to 1-1.

Meanwhile, reigning Division B titleholders Harley Davidson Batch 2012 pulled off a bounce-back win over Insular Square Batch 2005, 88-82, in a rematch of last year’s finals.

Dave Wilson Yu showed the way for Batch 2012 with a double-double of 23 points and 17 rebounds laced with six assists.

Four other Batch 2012 players cracked double figures. Aaron Baldwin Sing scored 21, Kyle Dumon tallied 17 markers and nine boards, Kendrick Siao filled the stat sheet with 11 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, one steal, and a block, while Arnel Cabanero contributed 13 points.

Elddie Cabahug exploded for 38 points with eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals in a losing cause for Batch 2005.

In the other result, Franco Augusto Te sizzled with 17 points and 12 rebounds while Ervin Lopena banged in 11 points, 16 rebounds, and seven assists as the ’04 The Win Batch 2004 improved to 2-0 with a 60-51 drubbing of Batch 2006.
