UC Webmasters off to winning start in Davao tourney
CEBU, Philippines — The University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters opened their campaign with a rousing 62-57 victory over the Benedicto College Cheetahs at the start of the 89th Araw ng Dabaw Invitational Basketball Tournament on Thursday night, March 12, at the Davao City Recreation Center.
Spunky guard Ricofer Sordilla showed the way for the Webmasters with an all-around performance of 18 points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
The Webmasters were ahead by only two points, 35-33, at halftime but staged a blistering 18-6 rally in the third period to establish a double-digit advantage, 53-49, going into the final 10 minutes.
UC kept its hot charge to lead by as much as 17 points, 60-43, late in the game.
The Webmasters then quelled a last ditch effort by the Cheetahs to walk away with a five-point win. (CEBU NEWS)
