CEBU, Philippines —  The University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers pulled off a vengeful 80-72 win over the Benedicto College (BC) Cheetahs to clinch the championship title of the 2026 Bulacao-Talisay Inter-Collegiate Basketball Tournament amid stormy conditions last Thursday night, February 5, at the Bulacao Sports and Cultural Center in Talisay City.

It was a sweet redemption for the Lancers, who were stunned by the Cheetahs, 72-78, in overtime during the first day of the four-day cage wars.

Two-time CESAFI Most Valuable Player Kent Ivo Salarda led five UV players in double figures with 16 points.

Karl Cabulao tossed in 12 points to help the Lancers of coach Gary Cortes grab their first crown of the year that also earned them a P50,000 cash prize.

Ivan Clark Alsola and AJ Sacayan tallied 11 markers apiece while Winston Bingil chipped in 10 points for the Lancers, who made the most of their huge 50-27 advantage at halfime to get back at the Cheetahs.

John Loufred Diamante paced the Cheetahs with 19 points while Kenneth Babalcon added 13 points in a losing effort.

Meanwhile, Joseph Arth Nalos sizzled with 17 points while Luther Leonard and Danie Boy Lapiz connived for 21 points as the University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters reaffirmed their mastery over the University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors, 77-74, to settle for third place.
