Llover keeps OPBF belt, Casimero also victorious
CEBU, Philippines — Undefeated bantamweight prospect Kenneth “The Lover Boy” Llover retained his Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) crown with a smashing second-round knockout of China’s Ayati Sailike last Saturday night, December 27, at the Aichi Sky Expo in Tokoname, Japan.
The 22-year-old Llover, ranked No.5 by the IBF, No.9 by the WBC, and No.10 by the WBA, sent Sailike down at the seat of his pants twice before being counted out by referee Nobuto Ikehara at 2:07 of the second round.
Llover, who is co-managed by former two-division world champion Gerry Penalosa and Kameda Promotions, stretched his perfect record to 17-0 now spiked with 12KOs. Sailike fell to 12-10-3 with 5KOs.
It was Llover’s fourth straight win of the year - all via short distance including a masterful first-round demolition of Japanese Keita Kurihara that earned the General Trias, Cavite fighter the OPBF 118-pound belt last March.
On the other hand, former three-division world titleholder John Riel “Quadro Alas” Casimero delivered a spectacular fifth round stoppage of Tomu Mizokoshi in his return from a one-year ban in Japan.
Casimero dominated Mizokoshi from the opening bell before finishing him off with a three-punch combination capped by a pair of powerful left hooks in round five.
The 36-year-old pride of Ormoc City improved to 35-5-1 with 24KOs, while Mizokoshi dropped to 11-6-2 with 5KOs. – EBV
