A dozen teams vie for 3rd Buildrite Cup crown

CEBU, Philippines — A total of 12 teams will vie for hardcourt supremacy in the Architects+Engineers Basketball Association’s 3rd Buildrite Cup, which will start today (Saturday, September 13) at the University of San Carlos (USC)-Downtown Campus Gym.

Before the games, a simple opening ceremony will take place at 6 p.m.

“This is to foster camaraderie among architects and engineers. We are grateful for the opportunity not only to showcase our brand but also the unity, individual skills and talents in the industry,” said Magna Prime Modern Trade Manager Alan Barretto in a press conference yesterday at the Comedor of Golden Prince Hotel and Suites.

Barretto was joined by Magna Prime Vice President for External Corporate Affairs Marvin Nisperos Estigoy, United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) District C1 Director Eden Catalan, and AEBA past presidents Alan Choachuy and Josephril Partosa.

“We are so thankful to have this event that strengthens our bond and camaraderie,” said Catalan.

Meanwhile, the title contenders are divided into two groups.

Bracket A is composed of Confix, Blockout, Handy Grip, Makaw, Kryocrete, and Biorust.

Handy Pro, Smartbond, Natica, Surfix, Readycrete, and Rubberstop make up Bracket B.

They will play a single round robin, with the top two qualifiers per bracket advancing to the crossover semifinals. The winners will clash for the championship in a knockout match.
