Batch 2010, 2012 and 2015 draw first blood
CEBU, Philippines — The ZLREJ Trading and Construction Batch 2010, Harley Davidson Batch 2012, and Imperial House of Furniture Batch 2015 drew first blood in the best-of-three semifinals of the Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (SHAABAA) Season 28 at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles in Barangay Canduman, Mandaue City.
In Division B, Batch 2010 downed the Insular Square Batch 2005, 61-53, to move a win away from the finals, in the same way with Batch 2012 after stunning the previously unbeaten ‘04 The Win Batch 2004, 90-87, behind the explosive 35-point show Adven Jess Diputado.
Jasper Diaz paced Batch 2010 with 24 points and 10 rebounds while Gabe Branzuela added 11 points, eight boards, three assists and as many steals.
Diputado, who also had nine rebounds and seven assists, got huge support from Mavii Suarez with 20 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.
In Division C, Anton Nino Araw-araw sizzled with 22 points on top of three rebounds, two assists and two steals to power Batch 2015 to a 69-58 beating of FADI Batch 2021.
Lorenzo Miguel Otero was the other double-digit scorer for Batch 2015 with 10 points, six rebounds, six assists and two steals.
In other result, the Nest Workspaces Batch 2013 routed Kaway Batch 2023, 82-47, to set up a semis showdown with the already waiting Xchange Forex Batch 2018.
Emman Malazarte scored 14 points while Fletcher Galvez, Rendell Senining, Arc Araw-araw and Jorine Mercado dropped 12 points each in Batch 2013’s balanced offensive performance.
