Paraase, Casinillo lead winners of Moalboal’s Pink October Fun Run
CEBU, Philippines — Traveling for over two hours just to compete in a long distance race down South was all worth it for Asia Paraase.
The double Palarong Pambansa gold medalist from Lapu-Lapu City topped the women’s 10K category of the
Pink October Fun Run spearheaded by the municipality of Moalboal through its Rural Health Unit in observance of the Breast Cancer Awareness Month last Saturday, October 5.
Paraase clocked in the fastest time of 47 minutes and 38 seconds among the female participants of the purposeful event staged in partnership with The Survivors, a group of cancer survivors who help raise awareness in preventing the disease.
Cherry Andrin finished second in 49:03 followed by Jeanny Mata (49:05), Patricia Pangagao (55:39), and Melanie Bamba (61:39).
In the men’s 10K, Jerome Casinillo grabbed the crown with a time of 35:22, 64 seconds ahead of Jessie Abelgas and almost 90 seconds ahead of Leonard Kemboi. John Vincent Gemparo (39:16) and Sofronio Batiancha (42:24) occupied the fourth and fifth spots.
In the 5K action, Art Joy Torregosa and Jovan Bensig came out on top of their respective divisions.
Torregosa clinched the women’s 5K title in 20:11, 35 seconds ahead of Michelle Raniola. Ziah Aras (21:26) settled for third, with Jane Panglao (23:54), and Joy Baldos (23:54) winding up fourth and fifth.
In the men’s side, Bensig took the first-place honors in 16:04, just 17 seconds ahead of second placer Oswaldo Arcelo. Clinto Nino Roma (17:05), Gerson Quevedo (17:06) and Cristian Lopez (18:00) completed up the top five.
