Purok 1 Cansika, All Cousins start hot in Cansaga cagefest

CEBU, Philippines — The Purok 1 Cansika and All Cousins got off to the best possible start they could in the Cansaga Fiesta Basketball League 2024 in Consolacion, Cebu.

Fil-Am Bio scattered 25 points, seven rebounds and four assists while Jomer Sumaya added 19 points as Purok 1 Cansika routed Purok 4, 89-69, in the Senior B category.

Cansika never looked back after cruising to a huge 49-29 advantage at halftime.

On the other hand, Keven Manatad sizzled with 22 points, eight rebounds, and five assists, while Zneb Jefferson Bustos and Abner Cortes connived for 28 points to power the All Cousins to an 81-73 drubbing of Purok 8 in the Senior A division

In other results, Mark Yaun, Adrian Bagnas, and Jhon Anthony connived for 46 points as Purok 7 demolished Purok 3, 88-54, in SK category, while James Tribucio exploded for 27 points as Purok 5B slammed Purok 8, 86-64, in Senior B. Tribucio  got huge support from Camlon Maglasang and Joel Alivio with 25 points in between them.

In Senior A, JR Tabigue, Bodoy Ermac and Nikko Chavez combined for 31 points to vault Purok 3 to a 61-50 trouncing of Purok 4.

Meanwhile, Lavenia Gersale of Team Quatres bagged the Best Muse award, Purok Tres claimed the Best in Uniform, while Purok 6 was adjudged as the most organized team.

In the exhibition match highlighting the opening day, the University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors outgunned the Cebu Roosevelt Memorial Colleges (CRMC) Mustangs, 79-68. – EBV
