Ex-world champ Vic Saludar headlines “Rumble in Naga II” today

CEBU, Philippines —  Former world champion Vic “Vicious” Saludar of Polomolok, South Cotabato hopes to end the year with a bang as he battles against Francis Jay Diaz of Cagayan de Oro City in a 10-round clash for the Asian Boxing Federation (ABF) light flyweight belt topbiling the “Rumble in Naga II” today at the Enan Chiong Activity Center in Naga City, south of Cebu.

Saludar, who once held court in the WBA minimumweight division, is coming off back-to-back knockout wins over Ariston Aton and Clyde Azarcon.

He carries a 23-6 record with 13KOs, while Diaz holds an 8-7 slate with 1KO.

In the supporting bouts of the slambang show promoted by Kenneth Rontal, Sherwin Dacullo of Mandaue City will go up against Reynald Ewican of Ozamiz, Jovany Tagusi of Sarangani will lock horns with Venjie Patac of Surigao, while Rafie Jamero of Polomolok will slug it out with Mark Gomez of Cebu City.

The rest of the six-fight card sponsored by the City of Naga headed by mayor Val Chiong, Thai promoter Naris Singwangcha, Pro Mix Feeds, KBDF Gaming, and Winzen’s Cafe pits Dennis Gaviola of Butuan City versus Johnrey Labajo of Minglanilla and Venjohn Yagahon of Valencia, Bukidnon against Kier Torregosa of Buenavista, Bohol. – EBV
