CEBU, Philippines —  Not long after the success of the inaugural Mandaue’s Pride Basketball Association (MPBA) Summer Cup, the amateur league will return for its second season on September 2 at the Cebu Port Authority (CPA) gym.

“We are excited to introduce MPBA Season 2 driven by a strong momentum of positive feedback from our inaugural season. The unwavering support of our sponsors further fuels our determination to forge ahead. We aim to provide the court, the committee, the crowd, the canvas in which we will all bear witness to the stroke of brilliance behind every play, and celebrate it,” said MPBA founder Atty. Miguel Lumapas.

“Champions are made from something deep inside of them - a desire, a dream, a vision. With MPBA Season 2 we hope to provide the arena in which the next generation of champions are forged, a platform to inspire Mandauehanons, viewers, and players alike to honor the human pursuit of finding the best version of yourself,” added Lumapas.

The MPBA Cebuano Cup Season 2 presented by WinZir, a Cebu-based sports betting and online casino, will feature 20 teams from  different companies and clubs in Cebu.

Bannered by the league’s first ever champion Truck N’ Trail, the other title contenders in the Cebuano Cup are ARQ Builders, Mitshubishi, M-Tech, Void, Artera, PrayBoys, Monteroyo, AMP, Boss Macchiatos, Outlaws, JCDC Ballers, SteadFast Bldrs, Agalon’s Haulers, WJV, Rongcales, Darchys, HomeSource, & Team Banilad by Luigi Bercede,, and Team Subangdaku by Ernie Manatad.

“Our commitment to their growth remains unwavering, and we see this as an opportunity to elevate not only the players but also our esteemed sponsors. As we approach MPBA Season 2, anticipate a grander stage with increased prizes and a shared passion for the game that binds us all,” said Joseph Marrion Ybañez who serves as one of MBPA’s commissioners together with Fritz Eduard Malinao.

Same with their maiden season, Malinao said no ex-pro players are allowed to join the tournament, which will be played at the CPA gym and at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex. — EBV from PR
