CVIRAA shines in early staging
CEBU, Philippines — The Central Visayas Regional Athletics Association (CVIRAA) makes its presence felt in the Palarong Pambansa after collecting several medals in both the elementary and secondary division in the early goings of the weeklong event in Marikina City.
Karl Emmanuel Fernandez is the first swimmer from the Central Visayas to win a medal, a gold at that via the 100-m breaststroke after posting a minute and 14.57 seconds.
Arnisters Brint Cinco, Jayn Paller and Jack Abatayo had a 1-2-3 finish in the forms competition.
Cinco won the gold in the individual double weapon while Paller got the silver in the girls’ single weapon and Abatayo with a bronze in the single weapon.
Malcom Pearson also managed to bag a bronze in the high jump event with a 1.56 meter mark.
In the secondary level, Naina Dominique Tagle snatched the archery girls’ 50-m gold.
Asia Paraase and Maria Lourdes Rondero both ended with a silver in athletics with Paraase taking away the silver in the 3,000-meter run in 10 minutes and 50.30 seconds while Rondero jumped 5.21-meters for her silver in the long jump.
Eumar Mamugay also made his presence felt with a bronze in pole vault after clearing 3.30 meter.
Poomsae artist Mark Andrei Dacer had a double bronze in taekwondo through the individual performance and team event along with Kenneth Gonzales and Dennis James Arquero.
