Mayor Ahong’s Blue team nails back-to-back championships
CEBU, Philippines — The Blue team led by Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan continued their hot streak to again emerge as champions in the 2nd Lapu-Lapu City Inter-Color Lawn Tennis Tournament recently.
Mayor Chan’s team also won the overall title of the event’s maiden edition last January.
Despite the mayor’s hectic schedule in managing the city, he always finds time to play tennis as a way to shake off his stress and boost his immune system as well.
His wife, congresswoman Cindi King-Chan, is also on the same team in the senior C category.
With the success of their pioneering tournament, Mayor Chan plans to conduct it at least six times this year. He believes that this will encourage tennis enthusiasts to play more often to stay fit and healthy. — EBV
