CEBU, Philippines — The University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers pulled a repeat performance over the University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors, 75-59, to stay undefeated in the 2022 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) men’s basketball tournament on Tuesday, November 8, at the Cebu Coliseum.

Rovello Robles tallied 12 markers while team captain Ted Saga and Zylle Cabellon each scored 11 as the Lancers of coach Gary Cortes tightened their grip of the solo leadership in the college division with a perfect 6-0 slate.

The Lancers were ahead by only six at halftime, 45-39, but Robles and Cabellon masterminded a searing 17-5 rally in the third period to rip the game apart, 62-44, going into the final 10 minutes.

From there, the Lancers sailed on smoothly to victory as the Warriors couldn’t trim the deficit even just to a single digit.

Acer Rom Michael Go tossed in 14 of his 19 points in the final quarter but got no ample support from his teammates as the Warriors crashed to their fifth loss in seven games.

In high school battle, the Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) Baby Wildcats rode on the all-around performance of Lawrence Mangubat to prolong the misery of the listless USC Baby Warriors, 70-56.

Mangubat exploded for 29 points on top of eight rebounds and six steals to help the Baby Wildcats improve their record to 3-2.

In sharp contrast, the Baby Warriors further languished down the cellar without a win in five starts.
