Xchange Forex 2000, Cebu Landmasters 2003 stay perfect in SHAABAA
CEBU, Philippines — The Xchange Forex Batch 2000 and Cebu Landmasters Batch 2003 stretched their unbeaten streak to six games in the Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (SHAABAA) Season 25 at the Magis Eagles Arena in Barangay Canduman, Mandaue City.
Jose Vicente Cañizares posted a double-double of 22 points and 14 rebounds laced with five steals and one assist while Joseph Rudolph Lo pumped in 20 points as Batch 2000 easily mangled Gaisano Capital-San Remigio Beach Club Batch 2002, 118-50.
Serg Al Gobui, Dave Michael Ting and Albert Ryan Chua conspired for 38 points for Batch 2000, which solidified its hold of the solo Division A lead with a perfect 6-0 mark.
In the other Division A games, Michael Stephen Lim sizzled with 31 points, eight rebounds, seven steals and two assists as GEF-Daikin Batch 1998 stunned Speed Demon Batch 1996, 62-58, Joel Co produced a monster double-double show of 24 points and 25 rebounds spiked with six assists to power Vivant Corenergy Batch 1994 past Mandaue Eco Glass Batch 1992, 73-70, while Roderick Mangubat torched 22 points to lift the Magis Medical Fund Batch 1997 to a 59-52 upset of AutoLab Batch 1999.
Batch 1998 notched its only second win in five starts, Batch 1994 evened its record at 2-2 while Batch 1997 improved to 3-2.
In Division B, Justin Ross Huang and Daryle Tan fired 25 points each as Batch 2003 mauled SUPREA Ready Mixed Concrete Batch 2011, 99-71, for its sixth consecutive victory, while Joseph Ian Roma and Kylle Edwin Valmoria tallied an identical 24 markers as Starkwood Properties Batch 2009 blasted Casino Ethyl Alcohol Batch 2010, 80-65, for its fourth win in seven matches.
In the lone Division C duel, Rendell Senining nearly had a triple-double with 23 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists and five steals as the MDP Customs Brokerage-Winzir Batch 2013 slammed Storage Town Batch 2015, 96-69, to stay at third place with a 5-2 slate. — EBV
