Alfa Wanbatz, Artera log back-to-back wins in Amicis caging

CEBU, Philippines — The Alfa Wanbatz and Artera notched back-to-back victories in the 30-above division of the Amicis Basketball League (ABL) Season 2 in Consolacion, Cebu.

Jay-R Artizuela exploded for 44 points while Jude Go and Armean Noah connived for 29 points as Alfa Wanbatz downed Bornfree, 100-95.

Alfa Wanbatz then mercilessly demolished Top Gun, 116-78, behind the 35-point outburst of Steven Luke to grab the solo lead in Bracket A with a 5-1 win-loss card.

Likewise, Artera posted two consecutive wins against Gemini, 96-88, and YYBC, 88-78.

Arnold Quilaton scored 23, Jhoyan Bustos added 21 markers, while Peter Jomuad, Rumar Ponce, and Warren Canete conspired for 52 points as Artera improved its record to 4-1.

Not to be outdone, Lemuel Calea sizzled with 32 points, while Louie Pontillas and Carlito Tresana tallied 44 points in between them as RCBC escaped past Casili Residences, 103-99, to register its fourth win in five starts.

On the other hand, Legendary and 032 Kicks by Miller both evened their slates to 3-3.

Brian Calzada and Cheito Lleve dropped 25 points each as the Legendary squeaked past YYBC, 94-90, while Jerome Barrita charted 25 points to power 032 Kicks to a 104-82 rout of the Prayboys. Annex Anajao chipped in 16 markers while JC Entrampas finished with 14 points for 032 Kicks.

In the other results, Bornfree bounced back with a 129-114 drubbing of Casili Residences, while the Miners crushed the Los Amigos, 93-75.

Jerry Singson erupted for 44 points while Kristoffer Cabajes and Angelito Nexie unloaded 28 points apiece for Bornfree, which now holds a 4-3 mark.

Rex Tuazon piled up 33 points, Benigno Tiongzon tossed in 29 while Rannel Cortes donated 15 points as the Miners triumphed for the fifth time in seven games. — EBV
