Green-Cheeked rules Mayor Alegado sepak takraw tourney in Consolacion
CEBU, Philippines — The Green-Cheeked squad recovered courageously from a lackluster start on the way to turn back the Rosellas in three sets and win the championship of the 1st Mayor Joannes Alegado Sepak Takraw Cup recently at the Sta. Lucia park in Barangay Poblacion Oriental, Consolacion, Cebu.
Powered by Rojimar L. Semblante, Jeramel Trillo, and Milke Ibale, the Green-Cheeked never knew what hit them in a lopsided 2-21 loss during the opening set.
The Green-Cheeked, however, bounced back with aplomb to sweep the Rosellas of Jasen Truz, Maki Bentulan, and Jonas Ancajas in the next two frames, 21-14, 21-15, to snatch the coveted crown in come-from-behind fashion.
Supported by LGU Consolacion headed by mayor Joannes “Joyjoy” P. Alegado, the tournament also drew participation from Takoyatea, Rojimar Dressed Chicken, James Aviary, Ey Stickerhouse, Javahigh Talamban, A and R Printshop, Alu Porter Craft, Cebu Fishingby Magx, Liga PPE & Workwear Enterprise, and Pest Officer Pest Control Services.
It was organized by Wendell S. Acabal, Dioscoro “Danny” M. Andrino and Marlon S. Gicain assisted by Arnold Niedo, Herbert Tabasa, Sem Augustus Adovo, Ralph Ortouste, Gary Pepito, Jamesle A. Pitogo, Julius Roble, Jimmy Canen, Regie Sanchez, and Arlou Sontosidad. — EBV
