Balais braces for first full triathlon race

CEBU, Philippines — Multi-titled Cebuano paralympian Arnold Balais will return to the national team, this time in triathlon for the 10th ASEAN Para Games at the New Clark City in Tarlac next month.

It was a blessing in disguise for Balais that the event got postponed last month as it allowed the national para triathlon team to include him in its fold.

Balais has been a national team member for differently-abled athletes team in powerlifting, athletics and  swimming. He has already been involved in triathlon competitions before but only for the swim part in relay event.

This time, Balais will do all three disciplines - swim, bike and run, a first in his decorated career.
