Yu, Cundangan top University Run

CEBU, Philippines — Jimmy Yu and Kay Cundangan stamped their respective classes in the 10K open category of the 14th University Run yesterday morning at the Cebu Doctor’s University main campus at the North reclation area, Mandaue City.

Yu took home the men’s title with the time of 46 minutes and 56 seconds, while Alesandro Sacris came out second with 47:23 clocking. Aldrin Pasumala claimed the third place honor with the time of 47:56.

Cebu Doctors’ Group of Hospital president and seasoned marathoner Dr.Yong Larrazabal also showcased his wares well as he landed fourth with a time of 48:03.

Cundangan, for her part, reigned supreme in the women’s side with the fastest time of 47:54. Maria Tan wound up second in 59:16, while Lynelyn Malalie clocked in one hour and 13 seconds good for third spot.

In the 5K open, Bryan Kent Catubig won the top spot with a time of 25 minutes and 35 seconds followed by Joseph Carzon (27:33) and Krian Bolo (36:25) for the second and third place, respectively.

Gwendolyn Undang shone in the 5K women’s action with a time of 27:32 followed by Ivy Castro (32:35) and Jennifer Palis (32:37), who occupied the second and third place, respectively.

Meanwhile, Cas Alzate was the fastest in the 10K employees class with a time of 1:00:40, while Charito Sanupao (1:13:57) won the women’s class.

Other winners were Augustin Suello and Jennifer Arcillas (5K employees), Kenneth Montecillo and Kimi Wee (5K students), Cianyl Gonzales and Nicolas Ong (3K students) and Neil Carcel and Cheerie Lee (10K alumni). (FREEMAN)
