Poblacion Occidental, Jugan survive foes in 10th Alegado Cup
CEBU, Philippines — Poblacion Occidental and Jugan escaped past their respective rivals in double thriller under the Inter-Barangay Seniors Category A of the 10th Mayor Alegado Cup Fiesta Basketball League in Consolacion.
Rezin Hijapon and Arturo Pepito connived for 39 points as Poblacion Occidental overcame Tayud, 76-72, while Erwin Brigole, Lee Mar Dahil and Japhet Naingue combined for 47 points to power Jugan to an 82-80 cliffhanger over Danglag.
In midgets Category A, Vince Luke Daclan exploded for 39 points, John Lester Canete and Daun Jay Diaz tallied 12 and 10 markers, respectively, to rally Jugan past Danglag, 82-76, while Charbel Nino Sanchez, Rodolfo Maglasang and Arvin John Sanchez connived for 35 points as Poblacion Oriental drubbed Tugbongan, 64-53.
Also, Christian Cassidy Elorpe scored 18 and Jowil Sugarol chipped in 12 markers to help defending champion Tayud down Poblacion Occidental, 49-36.
On the other hand, Leanmark Rivera, Kenneth Inoc and Johnrey Nique conspired for 41 poins as Tolotolo mauled Tilhaong, 75-47, in midgets Category B. In the same division, Johncel Tuñacao dropped 22 points to power Polog to a 74-52 whipping of Sacsac.
In SK Juniors Category B, Jayharold Herbito, Michael Jhun Isok, Jessie Bathan and Kier Senarpia tallied 56 points across their names as Tolotolo pummeled Tilhaong, 88-55, while Pablito Balaba nailed 22 points and Melvin Fernandez added 18 as Polog bested Sacsac, 70-63.
Tilhaong continued its hot charge in the Inter-Barangay Seniors Category B to edge Tolotolo, 76-71, behind the one-two punch of Jaylord Dano and Randy Apao who finished with 43 points in between them. — EBV
