Bulldogs stun Knights; Tech Mighties, Pioneers stay perfect in E-Leagues
CEBU, Philippines — Arsitotle Alcos sizzled with 23 points on top of six assists, four steals and three rebounds as the Executive Boutique/Select Voiceom Bulldogs stunned the previously unbeaten Optum Knights, 68-53, in the EVO League of the Tanduay Athletics CSCC E-Leagues for Basketball Season 15 last Sunday at teh City Sports Club-Cebu gym.
Ignatius Mark Loyola and Yvesse Carlo Suan also made their presence felt as the Bulldogs notched their first ever back-to-back wins to even their record to 2-2. Loyola finished with 10 points, while Suan scored only eight but pulled down 14 boards along with two assists and two steals.
Al De los Santos Jr. scattered 18 points, nine rebounds and two steals but to no avail at the Knights saw their three-game winning run come to a screeching halt.
In the other EVO League games, the Tech Mahindra Tech Mighties edged the Demand Science, 84-73, to extend their undefeated streak to 4-0, Amazon prevailed over Medspecialized, 63-56, for its third victory in five matches, while Author Solutions Philippines Inc. upended Dyninno, 61-56, to hike their mark to 2-2.
In the Elite Classic, Jan Michael Auditor dropped 21 points spiked with six rebounds, four assists and two steals as the defending champions Sykes Pioneers overcame the Accenture Sharks in a rematch of last season’s finals,72-68, to stretch their perfect run to 4-0.
Auditor was ably backed up by Dominic Adlawan, Earldred Montilla and Marl Vincent Laguna, who combined 39 points.
On the other hand, the Fusion BPO Dragons rolled to their third straight win in as many starts after pulling off a 83-80 squeaker over the Concentrix Converters, while the Teleperformance Vipers even their card to 2-2 after crushing the Dreamscape Lions, 70-46.
Roy Quiachon Jr. and Justin Marie Mier paced the Dragons with 18 markers each. Janille Kristianne Bantilan chipped in 16 markers while Niño Belande and Aldrin Fernandez banged in 12 points apiece.
Not to be outdone, Rahne Laborte pumped in 19 points to lead five players in double figures underscoring the Vipers’ balanced attack. (FREEMAN)
