Cebuana karateka shines in Singapore

CEBU, Philippines — Young but promising Cebuana karateka Allison Kyle Quiroga proved her worth to be a member of the Philippine team by winning gold and a bronze medal in the 39th Karatedo Goju-Kai International Championship the other night in Singapore.
Quiroga, the youngest member of the national squad, got bronze in the 55 kgs. division of the individual kumite before bagging a gold medal in the women’s team event.
Quiroga and her comrades bested host Singapore in the finals, 3-0.
The 18-year-old Quiroga made it to the national team for her impressive performance during the 2018 Philippine National Games (PNG) last year.
Quiroga was a former varsity of University of San Carlos before transferring to Jose Rizal University.
After his stint in Singapore, Quiroga will go back to training in preparation for the 30th Southeast Asian Games this November in Subic, Pampanga.
