CEBU, Philippines — Cebu Province will be fielding its biggest delegation in the Batang Pinoy Regional Finals set to take place in Iloilo City on Feb 23 to March 2.

“This time, we are sending a bigger delegation in the Batang Pinoy Visayas qualifying in the hope of getting more qualified athletes to play in the national finals,” Cebu Provincial Sports Commission (CPSC) Executive Director Atty. Ramil Abing said.

The province will parade a total of 380 athletes in the regional meet organized by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) for athletes aged 15 and below.

In last year’s Batang Pinoy National Championships in Baguio City, Cebu Province placed sixth overall out of over a hundred competing Local Government Units (LGUs) nationwide with a haul of 23 gold, 10 silver and 21 bronze medals.

“Basically we’re almost complete with our preparations logistically, and our athletes have been doing their practice and conditioning,” said Abing.

Aside from the medal-rich swimming and athletics, the Cebu Province athletes will vie for top honors in arnis, badminton, baseball, basketball, beach volley, boxing, chess, dancesport, futsal, volleyball, karatedo, sepak takraw, softball, table tennis, taekwondo, and lawn tennis.
