CTU sizzles in SCUAA athletics
CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu Technological University's athletics team went hot as they hauled medals in Day 2 of the 2019 State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA-7) Regional Games the other day.
CTU dominated the athletics event with 34 gold, nine silver and 12 bronze medals.
Sprinter Walter Basilisco delivered two gold medals via the 100m and 200m dash.
Other gold medalists for CTU are Titus Arong (javelin throw), Jommarey Sulpico (400m), Mark Danie Dinay (3,000m), Yaco Libudego (5,000m), Karl Alqueza (shot put), Danilo Tundag (discuss throw) and Antonio Leoven (high jump).
In the distaff side, Rhena Rose Curaza led the charge with two golds from the 3,000m and 5,000m events.
The CTU athletics also topped the men's and women's 400m and 4,000m team relay events.
CTU also bagged the gold medals in the men's and women's basketball game. They also nabbed two golds in the women's beach volleyball event, garnered four golds in the men's table tennis and another four gilts in dancesport.
With this, CTU is currently leading in the unofficial medal standing with 97 gold, 65 silver and 31 bronzes.
Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) is at distant second with 79-42-24 gold-silver-bronze followed by Cebu Normal University at third with 19-42-41 medal tally.
