SCUAA Tankers deliver for CNU

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu Normal University (CNU) stamped its class in swimming to pull away from its rivals in the 2019 State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA-7) Regional Games the other day at the Cebu City Sports Center.

 

CNU tankers harvested 32 gold, 22 silver and 20 bronze medals. Their men’s squad hauled 15 golds, while their women’s team collected 16 gilts.

Cebu Technological University (CTU) swimmers were at a distant second with 14 gold, 24 silver and six bronze medals followed by Bohol Island State University (BISU) at third with 12-16-21 gold-silver-bronze medals. Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) settled at fourth with 14-7-7 medal tally.

Mark John Borromeo led CNU’s charge with four gold medals via the 400m freestyle, 100m butterfly, 1500m freestyle and 200m individual medley. His teammates Bryan Alburo and Bethoveen James Arong also won two golds each. CNU also topped the 400m medley and 800m freestyle.

The women’s team also showcased dominance led by Hazel Vindy Garcia and Alva Joyce Lisondra who contributed two golds apiece.

Meanwhile, CTU topped the men’s and women’s division of the lawn tennis event, while CTU men’s baseball clinched the gold in baseball, while NORSU won the women’s softball gold.
