Streamline scores breakthrough win in E-Leagues
CEBU, Philippines — The Streamline Kangaroos banked on the all-around hardcourt brilliance of Geory Apas in taming the Bombardier Grey Wolves, 65-55, for their first ever win in the EVO League of the Tanduay Athletics E-Leagues for Basketball Season 14 last Saturday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.
Apas dished out a solid double-double of 23 points and 19 rebounds laced with four steals and three assists to help the Kangaroos snap out of their eight-game hoodoo.
Socratis Rama supported Apas with 19 points.
Gil Paulo Valencia and Franklin Cuizon had 22 points in between them but to no avail as the Grey Wolves crashed to their ninth straight loss and 10th overall in 11 games.
In the other EVO League games, Rusty Eelazar Salas dropped 15 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks to almost single-handedly carry the Dynnino Jets to a 63-58 drubbing of the Optum Knights, while Robert Rebano exploded for 29 points and Steven Cabanday added 23 as the Tech Mahindra Tech Mighties edged the Results Manila Spartans, 78-74.
The Jets improved to 5-3 after halting their two-game slide, while the Tech Mighties raised their record to 7-2.
In the lone Elite Classic match, the ePerformax Reds ended a four-game skid at the expense of the QBE Generals, 66-60.
Robert Gilo led three ePerformax players in double figures with 21 points. Nolan de la Peña nailed 20 markes and Jan Pope Ravina had 19 as the Reds notched their only third victory in 10 starts.
John Rey Girasol produced 19 points for the Generals, who fumbled for the sixth time in eight matches. (FREEMAN)
