Erediano, Borja reign supreme in Ironkids

CEBU, Philippines —  Cebuana Moira Frances Erediano and Zedrick Borja dominated their respective divisions in the 2018 Alaska Ironkids yesterday at Shangri-La's Mactan Resort and Spa in Lapu-Lapu City.

 

The 13-year-old Erediano used a strong performance in the bike and run legs en route to ruling the girls 13-14 category at 41:12.7.

It was actually a sweep for Cebuana athletes as Nicole Marie Del Rosario bagged the silver medal with a time of 42:01.1 as Jeanna Mariel Canete (43:11.4) settled for bronze.

Philippine triathlon developmental team’s Borja, for his part, escape with a hairline victory over Clifford Pusing to bag the boys 13-14 title.

Borja (38:24.0) and Clifford Pusing (38:24.7) went neck and neck the entire race before the former edged out his teammate by 0.07 seconds.   Earol Belonguil took the bronze with a time of 39:49.5.

Erediano’s teammates in Kenshie Luke Cabando and Christy Ann Perez topped their respective divisions in the 7-8 category.

TLTG also swept the 11-12 class with Justin Hermosa on top with 34:49.2 followed by Jacob Kennedy Lipura (35:52.5) and Jacob Clint Lipura (36:06.9) at second and third place, respectively.

Talisay Hugot Tuliang’s Carron Paulter Canas lorded it over at the 9-10 class and he also led his team for a golden finish in the 6-9 relay as Cebu Blue Marlins wound up third.

Zurielle Kenzie Galo also nailed her second straight title in girls 9-10 division with 30:08.5 clocking.

Kira Ellis won the girls’11-12 division while Pietro Patelli and Claresse Lamoste dominated the long distance as John Michael Capungan and Carlislie Bravo were the fastest in the short distance race.

Rider Omega Pro got something to celebrate after snaring the 10-14 relay event title over Consolacion’s Team DHL and CBM.
