All set for 13th University Run

Glorietta Lariosa - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — Around 3,000 runners are expected to participate in the 13th edition of the University Run (UR) of the Cebu Doctors' University slated on August 26 at the Dr. P.V. Larrazabal Jr. Avenue, North Reclamation in Mandaue City.

The annual charity race is dedicated to the late Dr. Potenciano Larrazabal Jr., former CDU president and brainchild of the University Run.

"Last year we had around 2,500 participants and we are expecting to top that number. More and more students are joining the longer distances, they are now more competitive and they're more into running that's why we are maintaining this run," said Run for Sight Chairman  Dr. Potenciano "Yong" Larrazabal III in a press conference yesterday at the CDU Run for Sight Headquarters. "All the proceeds of this run will be going to the Run for Sight Foundation for their medical missions and feeding programs every year."

The race features the 3K, 5K and 10K distances which is divided into open, students, alumni and employees categories.

All 5K and 10K finishers will get a finisher's medal, while winners will receive trophies, medals and gift certificates. Sunsport items will also be raffled after the race.

Entry fee is pegged at P600 for 10K, P500 for 5K and P300 for 3K. Registration is now ongoing at the CDU's Run for Sight Headquarters, Sappro Office. One may also register online at www.runforsight.net.
