Sorongon shines in St. Ignatius footrace
CEBU, Philippines — Veteran Ruffa Sorongon added feather on her cap after winning the 21K women's open race of the St. Ignatius Run 2018 yesterday at the SM City Cebu grounds.
Sorongon topped the 21K race in one hour, 31 minutes and seven seconds. Spectrum runner Evamie Villarin finished second in 1:34:08, while Angel Estillore grabbed the third spot with 1:44:05 clocking.
In the men's 21K, Joseph Emia came out the fastest in one hour, 17 minutes and 41 seconds, while Ychon Agustin placed second in 1:20:46 followed by Paul James Zafico with the time of 1:22:58.
In the 12K action, Ruel Alguferra and Alinsunod dominated their respective divisions.
Algufera outpaced Kenyan Eric Chepsiror with a time of 43:01, while the latter registered 44:06. Azlan Pagay settled for third place with 48:13 clocking.
Alinsunod topped the women's side with a time of 51:35 followed by Cherry Andrin (52:29) and Geniecel Saballa (54:43).
Prince Joey Lee (19:16) and Mary Joy Loberanis (25:33) ruled the 6K category, while the Rain Del Corro (10:38) secured the 3K title as Francis Kyle Policarpio (3:57) won the the 1K open title. (FREEMAN)
