CEBU, Philippines — Crack Legion bested 13 other equally-tough contenders to dominate the opening leg of the 2018 Cebu City Mayor's Cup Open Airsoft Series over the weekend at the Sugbu grounds in South Road Properties.

Crack Legion completed the 21-man team, objective-based gameplay with the highest output of 770 points to claim the P30,000 champion's purse.

Team Mizrach settled for second place with 650 points, while Special Action Airsoft Team (SAAT) and the Eagles occupied the next two spots with just a mere 10 points separating them. SAAT tallied 600 to land at third place, while the Eagles posted 590 points.

Mizrach pocketed P20,000, while SAAT and the Eagles received P10,000 and P5,000, respectively.

Despite not making it to the winners' list, Deep Recon stole part of the limelight after playing cool under heavy fire to grab the Sportsmanship award.

Like Deep Recon, SAAT got a special citation as best in CQB (close quarter battle).

City councilor Jerry L. Guardo was so elated with the tremendous success of the event that he promised to hold at least two more legs for the rest of the year.

"I am very happy that we are able to revive the interest of the Cebuanos in airsoft through this friendly, yet highly competitive tournament," said Guardo, speaking on behalf of the city government of Cebu as deputy mayor for sports."Rest assured our continued support for this undertaking."

Jointly organized by Southern Cebu Airsoft Recon (SCAR) led by Alex Macaling and Jeson L. Guardo and the Guadalupe Airsoft Team (GAT) of Dionie Teban Baylon, the two-day tilt was made possible through the support of the Cebu City LGU under the flagship of mayor Tom Osmeña and the Cebu City Sports Commission (CCSC) behind the efforts of commissioner Alan Borres Delantar.
