Cebuana swimmer Alcoseba shines in UAAP
CEBU, Philippines - Cebuana teen swim sensation Raven Faith Alcoseba made waves in the juniors division of the 79th Universities Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) the other day at the Rizal Memorial pool.
The Talisay City-native bagged two gold medals plus one silver for De La Salle University-Zobel.
The 13-year-old Alcoseba reigned supreme in the 800m freestyle with a time of nine minutes and 56.67 seconds. Charize Esmero (10:01.62) of University of the Philippines finished second followed by Francheska Baccay (10:06.20) of the University of Santo Thomas.
Alcoseba’s second gold came from the 400m freestyle with a 4:47.53 clocking. She upended UP’s Zoe Marie Hilaro and Esmero who both registered a time of 4:50.97.
The Cebuana missed a triple gold after falling short in the 400m individual medley. She settled for only silver in 5:27.30. Hilario won the gold in 5:22.87. (FREEMAN)
