Gateway makes it 5-0 in SHAABAA cagefest

CEBU, Philippines - Gateway Batch 2007 rammed past South Tiger Trucks and Heavy Equipment, 54-40, to stay unbeaten in the PLDT SME Nation-Alfredo Gothong 21st Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (SHAABA) Cup at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu old campus gym along General Maxilom Avenue, Cebu City.

Aaron John de los Reyes had 12 points, while Martin Lorenzo Uy and Brennon Kent Gothong nailed 11 markers each as Gateway tightened its grip of the Division C lead with an immaculate 5-0 record.

It was cruise control for Gateway after closing the first half with a 27-14 advantage. No player cashed in twin digits as South Tiger slumped to its sixth consecutive loss in as many starts. 

 In the other Division C game, Christopher Benjamin Gothong netted 18 points and Raynan Carl Bacalan scored 10 as the Radar Tires Batch 2004  edged Batch 2014, 59-51, to improve its record to 3-2.

Kyle Agustin Lim scattered 19 points and Lorenz Yap had 17 but their efforts went for naught as Batch 2014 dropped to 2-3.

In Division B, Romeo Alejadro unloaded 22 points to lift White Gold Club '96 over GEF '98, 51-49, while Chad Cañares and Dennis Que dished out 11 points apiece to power Choobi Bay Crab and Shrimp Batch '91 past Dynacast Batch 2001, 45-39.

White Gold now holds a 3-2 slate, while Choobi Bay joins Core Pacific Batch 2000 at third place in the standings with similar 4-1 win-loss cards. (FREEMAN)
