'Bisdak" Traya vies for WBC Youth title in Poland today

EBV - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Cebuano boxer Elmo “Bisdak” Traya takes on the toughest test of his budding career right in his first fight abroad as he battles the unbeaten but feather-fisted Polish champion Przemyslaw Runowski for the WBC Youth Intercontinental super lightweight title today at the Amfiteatr in Miedzyzdroje, Poland.

In a report by PhilBoxing.com, Traya's trainer Michael Domingo of Cebu's fabled ALA Gym said they did not have any problems in adjusting to the climate since they arrived in the small town on the island of Wolin in northwestern Poland last Wednesday and that they are looking forward to a great and exciting fight.

“The cold weather feels just right. Elmo feels comfortable, and is looking forward for his fight,” said Domingo, the former WBO bantamweight titleholder who is now trying to make a name for himself as a strategist.

The 20-year-old Traya, who hails from Tabuelan town north of Cebu, sports an 11-1 record spiked with 8KOs. He is on a 10-fight win streak since absorbing his first and only loss by split decision at the hands of Diover Mangayaay of La Union Province on July 13, 2013 at the Solaire Resort Hotel and Casino in Pasay City.

Traya will go up against the 22-year-old Runowski, the reigning WBC Youth Silver welterweight titlist who is unscathed in 11 bouts but with only two knockouts to his credit. (FREEMAN)
