Sunsport offers expanded basketball camp

CEBU, Philippines - Due to strong public demand, Sunsport will once again hold an expanded basketball training camp starting this June 18 at the Sacred Heart Center Sports Club, just a stone's throw away from Sacred Heart Church along D. Jakosalem Street, Cebu City.

Camp director Giovannie “Jojo” Romarate said they usually hold the annual event only during summer but due to public clamor, they decided to come up with weekly camps.

Training sessions will only be on Saturdays from 12 noon to 2 p.m. It is open to aspiring hoopsters aged seven to 19 years old.

As in their previous clinics, Romarate said the participants will learn both the fundamental and technical aspects of the sport.

"We will be teaching our students the basics of the sport such as proper shooting, dribbling, passing, footwork and other related drills," said Romarate, who is also the longtime head coach of the Salazar Colleges of Science and Institute of Technology (SCSIT) Skyblazers. "Aside from that, they will also learn some offensive and defensive strategies, on-court communication and other technical aspect of the game."

Registration fee is pegged at P1,100 inclusive of an upper jersey and Sunsport basketball 2016 edition.
