Perfect eight for Megabond in A+EBA caging

CEBU, Philippines - The hardcourt warriors of Megabond overcame a spirited resistance by Davies Paints to eke out a close 77-73 win, their eight straight in the Architects+Engineers Basketball Association's 1st Corporate Cup at the University of San Carlos-Main gym.

Neil Tequin sparkled with 22 points spiked with nine rebounds, two asissts and two blocks as Megabond stays   the only undefeated side in a six-team field.

Malvin Malicdem added 13 points and passed out eight assists for Megabond, which led by only six points at halftime, 29-35.

Davies Paints rallied back in the third period to pull within just two points, 51-53, but Megabond kept its poise and composure towards the end of the match to scrape through a four-point victory.

Michael Cinco was just two assists short from triple-double, finishing with 21 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists. His efforts went for naught though as Davies Paints crashed to its sixth loss against only two wins.

In the other games,  Fenestram blasted CMI, 68-55, while Dorma trounced Phoenix, 80-57. Dorma now joins CMI at second place on identical 5-3 win-loss slates, while Fenestram evened its record to 4-4. Phoenix is further mired at the cellar with a pitiful 0-8 record.— EBV (FREEMAN)
