Kenyans dominate ‘Ruby Jubilee Run’
CEBU, Philippines – Kenyan runners ruled their respective divisions in the first ever Saint Paul Learning Center’s ‘Ruby Jubilee Run’ yesterday at the Sumilon road of Cebu Business Park.
Abraham Kilima topped the 10K men’s division with a time of 34 minutes and 13 seconds, followed by his countryman Douglas Mwiti (34:2) as Ian Refuela (36:62) landed third.
In the distaff side, Lovely Andrin reigned supreme with her 46:15 clocking. Trailing behind Andrin is Sara Lee Cuizon (46:28), while Cez Atup settled for third in 1:24:15.
Just like Kilima, Joseph Murari (16:22) also outpaced his foes to win the 5K men’s open. Michael Largo (16:53) and John Darryl Manos (17:03) claimed the second and third place, respectively.
Mary Joy Loberanis won the 5K women’s with a time of 19:00 beating Catherine and Angeline Yu who finished second and third with 22:54 and 23:40, respectively.
For her part, SPLC official Lenny Nengasca said that around 600 runners participated in the race that was being planned to be an annual running event. (FREEMAN)
