Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines- The University of Cebu broke the heart of defending champion University of San Carlos after winning their final assignment against the University of San Jose Recoletos in the preliminary round to advance to the finals of the football event of the 2015 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. yesterday at the Cebu City Sports Center.

UC only needed a draw against USJ-R to reach the finals, but they still put enough effort to pull off a victory. Ferdinand Osorio sank his goal in the 56th minute to deliver the victory for UC.

UC and USJ-R will battle one more time in the finals scheduled next Saturday still at the Cebu City Sports Center.

With UC’s win, USC will be officially eliminated. USC will meet the University of the Visayas for the battle for third.

Over at the USC gym, the semifinal cast for the tertiary division of CESAFI's volleyball competition is now complete.

Moving up to the semifinal round in men's division are defending champion Southwestern University, USJ-R, USC and University of Southern Philippines Foundation.

SWU's men's squad ended the elimination round with an easy win over University of the Visayas, 28-26,25-23, 25-23. USJ-R also came up with a victory against USPF, 20-25, 26-24,25-16, 25-18 while USC grabbed a 25-20, 26-24,24-26, 21-25,25-18 triumph against CIT-U.  (FREEMAN)
